Here’s what people are saying about Melissa:
“Melissa recently helped me write copy for my website, including boosting SEO. She was great with answering all my questions and made sure that I loved the finished product, even after the job was done. I highly recommend Melissa and will definitely use her again in the future!”
— Krys DeRosa, owner Krys DeRosa Photography
“On several occasions I hired Melissa to write press releases to promote my two traveling entertainment companies. Each has its own identity, audience, and messaging. She asked great questions, did research, and captured who we are. I’ve used other writers over the years but no one I worked with has more attention to detail and creativity than Melissa. She also delivered on time, if not earlier than expected; her work exceeded all expectations. Going beyond the pages of the well-written press stories Melissa created, she also offered advice on email subject lines and news story distribution. Melissa is not only extremely talented and effective, but a joy to work with.”
— Frank Marquette, Executive Director Murder Café and Theatre on the Road
“Melissa has the rare ability to compel a reader to keep reading, even in a world of decreasing attention spans. She understands the heart of a place, an experience, and the value that each provides. Melissa gets to the core of what makes something special and brings it to life with the written word. Most of us spend our days writing emails and posting on social media, so we tend to think we can write compelling copy. Then you read her prose and become humbled. Melissa just gets what works about good copy.”

Portfolio
A few projects from happy clients.
Client: The Colony music venue in Woodstock (assigned through a third-party creative agency)
Project: Copywriting for their weddings/events brochure. The goal was to showcase the venue as more than just a traditional Woodstock venue, but as an elegant, intimate space that music lovers can enjoy without the over-the-top tie-dye vibe. I wrote most of the content, but here are just a few clips.

Client: Wingate LTD, a high-end interior design firm in the Berkshires
Project: Website copywriting. Wingate’s designer focuses mainly on traditional-style décor, and we wanted her website’s tone to reflect warmth, comfort, luxury, and bold ideas.

Clients: Sophia Subbayya Vastek, pianist; Brian Anderson, multi-instrumentalist
Project: Artist bios. I create promotional communications for musicians via my other website, UpstateMusicMedia.com. Sophia and Brian are musicians with two distinctly different styles. Sophia is a neo-classical pianist who creates ethereal instrumentals, and Brian is a standup bassist, folk-rock guitarist, and vocalist. The artist bios I wrote and designed for each of them are below.

Clients: Theatre on the Road; Ryan Townsend, musician
Project: Press releases. Theatre on the Road is a traveling theater company that puts on live performances from murder mystery theaters to living history re-enactments, and needed a few releases to promote upcoming shows. Ryan Townsend is a singer-songwriter who reached out via my music promotion site UpstateMusicMedia.com for a release to promote an upcoming album. Examples are shown below.

Client: Shero Commerce
Project: Blog strategy and content. I provided blog content strategy and copy for a growing e-commerce development and marketing agency, with topics focused on e-commerce platform comparisons, SEO tips, email marketing how-tos, tutorials, and more.
